Rights and reuse

The central rule

Availability is not permission.

EvaGata.com brings together material with different legal histories: Eva Gata’s literary and artistic work, bibliographic facts, third-party journalism and photography, institutional records, archived web pages and openly licensed memorial media.

A source link, local preservation copy or search-engine result does not transfer copyright. Check the creator, rights holder, licence, territory, purpose and intended format for every reuse.

Material classes

Use the rule attached to the item—not a site-wide assumption

01
Literary works and book images. Do not reproduce substantial text, an entire work or production-ready cover art without documented permission or a specific legal exception.
02
Paintings and archival photographs. A web preview supports discovery and identification. Publication, merchandising, exhibition graphics or high-resolution distribution requires a rights check.
03
Third-party press, video and audio. Credit and link to the original publisher. Reproduction beyond a lawful quotation needs permission from the relevant creator or publisher.
04
Metadata and research exports. Bibliographic records may be downloaded for research and cataloguing with source attribution. Embedded abstracts, quotations and linked media retain their own rights.
05
Openly licensed items. Follow the exact named licence, including attribution, share-alike or non-commercial conditions where they apply.

Everyday use

What usually needs no special archive permission—and what does

✓

Link and identify

Share a page link, cite bibliographic facts, or use the export tools with a visible source and access date.

“ ”

Quote responsibly

Use only the amount justified by criticism, scholarship, reporting or teaching, identify the author and source, and respect the law that applies to your use.

!

Ask before reproducing

Request clearance for whole works, scans, high-resolution art, commercial production, adaptation, translation, broadcast or exhibition display unless a clear licence already permits it.

Permission request

Include enough detail for a meaningful answer

A rights inquiry is not an automatic grant. Wait for written confirmation that identifies both the material and the permitted use.

    Identify the item

Page URL, work title, creator, image number or exact excerpt.

  4. 04

    Request the asset

Specify resolution or file format only after rights have been clarified.
